I Quit

... I can't do this
...
I hate this
...
I'm over this
...
This is too hard
...
Why am I doing this

And the other 1000 variations of the feeling like you want to quit!

This week I want to talk about that feeling you get when you want to throw in the towel and give it all up.

It happens to the best of us. Sometimes daily.

But the worst thing you can do at that moment is ignore the feeling.

Here are seven practical ways to disconnect and reconnect during those times of frustration, overwhelm, and fear.

1. Taking a break - not just a 10-minute cup of tea. A real break. You may need a day or even a week. Be kind to yourself. Taking time away is often all that we need. Refresh, realign and recharge. And if you're telling yourself you can't afford to do that, then I ask you, can you afford to quit?

2. Writing - journaling is one of my personal favourite tools. Getting the mental load out of my head and onto paper regularly shifts my energy. If you want to step it up a notch, burn those negative thoughts, feelings and feears when you are done

3. Bring more joy - What do you love? Dancing, singing, reading, exercising, cooking. Reconnect to what brings you joy outside of your work and do lots of it. Fill your cup and then come back and re-asses where you are at.

4. Talking - Pick up the phone and chat with a mentor. It will never let you down. Be honest about how you feel, what's causing the overwhelm and frustration.

5. Clean up - Clearing our physical space can often help us clear our mental clutter too.

6.Why - If you've given yourself some space to disconnect, then start by going back to why you are doing this, why is it important to you, your family, your community.

7. Sleep - The momentum stops when you sleep. Take a nap, go to bed earlier, sleep later. Use sleep to reset physically and mentally.

These are all methods that I use to help shift back into alignment on a regular basis.

Self care is an absolute must as the founder of a small business. If we are running on empty we have nothing to give. Make sure you're caring for yourself before you care for your clients.
